I woke feeling battle weary. Someone had spoken of this a few days ago and shared a song. I felt like the song I heard and just wanted to be held by the Lord. I didn’t want to pray yet but just let Him strengthen me. In our weakness we can always turn to Him for strength.
As I sat in silence, I remembered a dream from a few days ago. In the dream, I was driving when the road ran out and I drove into what I knew to be fertile ground. The garden had the look of freshly plowed soil. I went about ten feet before I could stop and back up. The only way to go then was the left so I turned in that direction. I saw a young man about forty come out of the small house behind the field. He was waving his hands and running toward me as I pulled up. I told him I was sorry that I went into his field but the road just ran out without any warning. He had the most light-hearted laugh as he got into the car, as if ‘you can’t hurt it’. His demeanor was patience with not a care in the world. As we rode on, the road began to get narrower and darker. We made it to a location where people were waiting. I kept thinking he should speak to these people but he kept waiting. I finally started preparing food for the people to eat.
I didn’t understand why this young pastor didn’t speak to these people. The dream from beginning to end had a very light-hearted, light-spirited atmosphere. Even when the road became narrower and darker, there wasn’t any fear at all. It was on my heart early this morning to search these matters out.
This young man I encountered had placed His cares at Jesus’ feet in total trust. He was holding onto the Living Word of God and had written them on the tablet of his heart so that nothing could snatch the Lord’s teachings away from him. His heart was guarded. He was not weary but walking in the strength of the Lord. He was working for the Kingdom and had no misunderstanding about that. In the patience of a renewed heart, he waited on the Lord’s will and the Lord’s timing for the words he was to offer to the people. His laughter showed his love for the Lord. The troubles he saw out in the world did not take away the joy in his heart. His total trust was refreshing. Even as the road became narrower and darker, no anxious thought ever penetrated his peaceful demeanor. His life was the fruit of fertile soil.
I pray we, as believers in Christ, receive His Words with an open, teachable heart so that nothing can snatch them away. I pray that we wait on His timing and His will for His purpose. God bless!
