In January of 2016, I sat with pen and pad and wrote what was so strongly on my heart:
For years I couldn’t wrap my head around how the holocaust could have even happened, or how a people could have ever been held in slavery, or even the idea that foreign troops could ever invade a country like America that once was such a mighty force to be reckoned with. And how the rights could slowly even be taken away from free people. I began to see ostrich’s heads in the sand (not a vision) until they were plucked out. I’m the ostrich with my neck AND feet buried. Head in the iPhone. Head in Facebook. Head in the TV. Sinner with pride. The enemy stands back, watches and laughs. We are held captive before our rights are even removed. We tell each other to think positive, be the positive. Pick a rainbow colored sand for our heads to dip into. Not just a dull ordinary sand. And don’t rock the anything goes boat or we will kick you out. Leave us to our closet sins. Silence as we pray to our gods. Hear not the minister called by the Great I AM to repent and put on the full armor of the one true God to march. Yet listen to the one that tickles the ears buried in the sand. And I hear the silence of the people as they rode the train to their deaths.
I recently posted a dream where we stood in silence and drew on a window we knew would never be used again and we knew the window was called Liberty. We drew on another window we knew would never be used again and we knew the window was called Freedom. I was drawing a train on the window.
I had a conversation with my husband this morning. He is more concerned at the panic than the virus. I told him we can’t do anything about the panic but it is causing schools and businesses to close and people to be locked down in their homes, therefore we need to get what we would need should that suddenly happen to us. We found out since yesterday of a couple counties near us where schools are closing. My husband said something that brought back the train I had drawn and also the writing I included above. He said, ‘people are like sheep’. Suddenly the words came to me ‘people are like sheep led to slaughter’. And I remembered the silence of the people as they rode the train to their deaths. I remembered the silence in the dream as we knew we would never again use Liberty and Freedom.
Romans 8:36 As it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
BUT…the next verses are what we need to stand on because when we call on the name of Jesus we have a Savior. Verse 37-39 – Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We should be so loudly shouting for joy in the face of adversity. We have one that has already conquered, and THAT is the shepherd we follow!
