The Lord speaks sometimes in quiet ways, but as we lend our ear in His direction we  know it is Him speaking.  For me, this dream was His way of saying that He is in my every day.  He is in my work, and I can find happiness throughout my day even through my work.

Dream-

I was loading a dishwasher and things were in the way so I took those things out and placed the dishes where they needed to go.  Everything was in order and as it should be.  It was a good job done.  I was happy and my heart was light as I removed the things that caused problems out and moved on with my work in contentment.  I could feel the smile on my face and in my heart.

A man that had been watching me said, “I see how you find happiness in your day, even though you work.  It is your work that you do and the way that you do it that makes you happy.”

Idle time had been on my mind the day before.  Idle time can give way to things in the mind that don’t belong.  Things that will cause sadness or an ill mood.  My things are mostly the grandchildren leaving such a mess before school.  We try to make sure they have chores but there is still a lot of work to be done in a day.  There is also the work outside the home that we need to have the means to pay for our everyday living.  Even a disabled person spends their day doing something, and that something is very important.  We all need to realize how important it is that we do our work, or however we busy our day, with joy and gladness.  The key word is busy.

Then I opened my devotion for the day and it speaks of the same thing.  That’s how I usually know there is a lesson for me to stop, pay attention, and learn.

The devotion said that whatever you do, do it with all your heart as working for God and not man.  Anything otherwise isn’t pleasing to Him and it is not good for us.  I don’t like it when I grumble.  I had noticed a lot of grumbling and a feeling of down trodden coming from me recently and I didn’t like it.  I began to notice others that work and how happy they are.  That’s the way I like to be.  Its not only good for us but its good for others that in their time of need God can send them in our path to see how we handle our every day lives.  He weaves a tapestry for every day if we are in tune to Him.  He helps us find the things that will bring our hearts pleasure while we work on this earth.  We don’t have to go through our day worrying about the things of the next day, or feeling anxious to get to the exciting events of the next day.

Every day is a gift.  I hope to always pay attention as I work that even the smallest task is important and done in a good way is pleasing in God’s eyes.  These are the scriptures from my devotion that so perfectly spoke of my dream and the lesson for me, coupled with my dream, that I wanted to share with you.

Colossians 3:23 – Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

Genesis 2:15 – The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.

2 Thessalonians 3:11-12 – For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies.  Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.
