How Firm a Foundation – 10/27/17

I woke a lot during the night and around 4:00am the words came to me from a song.  God had given them to me once before in answer to a prayer.  I hadn’t heard from Him in a while so that had been on my mind.  The words were ‘what more can He say than He’s already said’.  I had a nudge to look the song up again.  It’s from ‘How Firm a Foundation’.  It was written in the 1700’s and is made from scriptures;

Isaiah 41:10  Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Isaiah 43:2  When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

2 Corinthians 12:9  And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.  Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Hebrews 13:5  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

I realized I have heard the Lord give me these words many times.  When I had a mini-stroke, I went to the hospital and asked Lord what do you make of this?  I opened the bible on the table in the emergency room and my eyes fell to Isaiah 43:2.  That stayed with me and gave me so much comfort.  I had known I would have a stroke since I was at the ocean a few weeks earlier.  I didn’t take any electronic devices with me and just enjoyed the ocean view and prayed.  I woke one morning knowing that I would have a stroke.  I prayed a lot about that and thankfully it was very minor.  God is good.

When God speaks to us about anything or brings anyone to mind, it is to open our prayer conversation with Him.  He will speak to many about the same thing and prayers will begin to go up to Him like doves flying toward the throne room of heaven.

Galations 5:25 NIV – Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

Amen!  God bless!
